Photos of Victoria peak

From the historic tramway known as the Peak Tram, through the modern shopping arcade of the Peak Galleria with its many restaurants and shops, to quiet country walks, clean children's playgrounds, green public lawns, shrubs and butterflies and always, of course, amazing views of the harbour and the south China seas.

Take your best camera equipment whether that be a mobile phone, a DSLR or some traditional film camera to capture amazing vistas while on the peak. Although the weather can sometimes prevent you from taking the traditional blue-sky-and-harbour shots that grace magazine pages and guidebooks galore, there are great opportunities for interesting images even on those misty days.

If you have any interest in wildlife, fauna, insects, flowers or nature in general then take along a macro lens and walk carefully through the many quiet paths that go around the peak and see everything from fantastically furry caterpillars to quiet little squirrels which hide amongst the shrubbery.

Here are some of the sights that you will around Victoria Peak!

The images above were taken on an ordinary day with moderately clear skies and are typical of what you will see on Victoria Peak if you take the time to walk away from the Peak Tram Terminus building.  From waterfalls, small though they might be, to green lawns it is a great place to relax and enjoy nature while still being within just a few minutes transport from the hub of Hong Kong's Central business district.

No wonder then that since British Colonial times this has been a desirable residential district and as you walk the paths you will find no shortage of high-end apartment complexes as well as smaller private residences. Much of the real-estate on the Peak is privately owned and available for some quite substantial rents if you consult with an estate agent.

As a tourist inspecting the area you probably won't be able to tell who are the residents in this area as they blend in with the many nationalities that come to visit for the views, the food, and of course the shopping.

FOOD AND DINING

While often visited for the view the visitor should not forget that The Peak encompasses a wide range of dining options, from the casual to the sophisticated.  Within The Peak area are examples of many of Hong Kong's most authentic and distinctive styles, as well as international choices to fit all palates and budgets.
