Mountain Lodge: Fantastic Views To The West Of Hong Kong
Mountain Lodge was the site where the former Governor of Hong Kong had his summer house. The main house has long since been demolished so the Mountain Lodge site is now a viewing platform with wonderful views to the west of Hong Kong Island situated at the top of Mount Austin Road.
As well as having many wonderful viewing platforms, which are interconnected by paved pathways at the Mountain Lodge site there is also Gate Lodge and Victoria Peak Gardens, which is also known simply as ‘the peak gardens’.
Gate Lodge was the residence of the keeper of Mountain Lodge's living quarters and not accessible inside to the public you can still explore the outside of this Renaissance style monument. The gardens, which were renovated in 2010, are a series of well-kept lawns that are connected by a collection of pathways. There is also a beautiful creek that runs through Victoria Peak Gardens and some wooden picnic benches. Mountain Lodge and Victoria Peak Gardens are only a 10-minute walk from the peak and can be a great place to visit for a picnic or just to relax if you are in Hong Kong.
