Mountain Lodge Pavilion and Shop near Victoria Peak Gardens

Mountain Lodge used to be the site of the summer residence of the Governor of Hong Kong before it was demolished in the 1940s having suffered bombing damaged by the Japanese during World War II.

Today the site is a viewing platform with fantastic views over the western side of Hong Kong including Lantau, Lamma and parts of Kowloon. There is a pavilion here if you need a rest after hiking to the site and a small shop.

The site also serves as access to Victoria Peak Gardens, which have been preserved for the public to enjoy despite the mansion being demolished. The gardens are a lovely space for a picnic or just to have a walk around and get away from the touristy mayhem at the peak. Popular with couples, families and groups of friends enjoying some relaxing timeout, the peak gardens are also often used by wedding photographers as they provide a great backdrop.

Another thing worth noting is that the peak and peak gardens are very high above the city so it can get noticeably cooler here but the stunning views are undoubtedly worth it and make for some great photographs and video especially if you manage to catch the sunset too.
