The Former Mountain Lodge Site At The Top Of Mount Austin Road
The view from the site where Mountain Lodge, which was where the former Governor of Hong Kong's summer house used to be located, is really impressive especially when the weather is clear.
The Mountain Lodge site is at the top of Mount Austin Road, next to Victoria Peak Gardens. Victoria Peak is about 10-minutes walk from here so easily walkable when the weather isn't too hot. Victoria Peak is the highest viewing point over Hong Kong's diverse and interesting skyline at 552m (1811ft).
There are various viewing platforms around the peak including the premium viewing platform on the rooftop of Sky Terrace 428 on top of Peak Tower. The peak is most commonly visited by using the Peak Tram service, which leaves from Central at regular intervals during the day. Attracting over 7 million visitors every year Victoria Peak is a very popular day out in Hong Kong for tourists and visitors.
Mountain Lodge and Victoria Peak Gardens offer a much less touristy way of enjoying the wonderful views over Hong Kong and also a chance to enjoy the gardens, which are one of Hong Kong's few green parks.
