Mountain Lodge with views over the west of Hong Kong Island
The summit of Mount Victoria on Hong Kong, known as Victoria Peak, is dominated by transmission masts but you can still enjoy the views over Hong Kong, the world famous Victoria Harbour and the islands that stretch to the horizon from various viewing decks around the peak.
The most popular and touristy place to visit and enjoy the panoramic views is from the rooftop Sky Terrace 428 on top of Peak Tower although there is a fee for accessing the premium, upper viewing deck.
Another, slightly less touristy place to take in the views is at Mountain Lodge, which used to be the location of the Governor of Hong Kong’s summer house until it was bombed by the Japanese during World War II and then later demolished.
If you are visiting the peak then you could easily walk to the old Mountain Lodge site to enjoy the views over the western side of Hong Kong Island and then maybe stop off in Victoria Peak Gardens too, which is situated next to the old Mountain Lodge site and is one of Hong Kong’s most beautiful public parks. The peak gardens are popular with picnickers, hikers and families and are even used by wedding photographers as a backdrop.
