Mount Austin Road just before the peak gardens entrance
This photo was taken on Mount Austin Road, which is not only a very exclusive residential area in Hong Kong but also a popular hiking trail to get to Victoria Peak Gardens. The gardens used to be part of the summer home of the Governor of Hong Kong but are now a beautiful green public park that has many nature walks, a creek and other pathways around Mount Victoria to enjoy and explore.
The photo is of Mount Austin Road just before you reach the entrance to peak gardens. The road ends at Mountain Lodge, which was the site of the summer home of the Governor of Hong Kong. The gardens remain and are popular with both Hong Kong residents and tourists who enjoy nature walks and seeing the views over Hong Kong.
Once you reach the gardens you can explore the area via the Governor’s Walk, which is a trail that will take about 30 minutes to complete and morphs into the Morning Trail – another pleasant nature walk that is around 2,800m long and goes around Mount Victoria.
Victoria Peak Gardens is open 24 hours a day so that you can enjoy the wonderful, scenic views both during the day and at night. Whichever you choose it is well worth a visit when you’re in Hong Kong and have some time to spare.
