Mount Austin Road Is A Great Route to Victoria Peak
There are a few ways to get to Victoria Peak; one is to hike to along Mount Austin Road, which runs through the exclusive residential area of Mount Austin. This scenic walk will take you past the Mount Austin Playground and through Victoria Peak Garden. It does get quite steep in places as you head up to the peak’s viewing deck, which is 552m (1811 feet) above Hong Kong and Victoria Harbour.
Mount Austin Road gets gradually narrower as it winds up towards the peak so you will need to be cautious of the blind bends in the road because this residential area does have some through traffic and the oncoming drivers may not see you – it’s best to stay on the footpath where you can.
Hiking to the peak past Mount Austin Playground and through Victoria Gardens to enjoy the spectacular, scenic views over Hong Kong also gives you the opportunity to stop and enjoy the playground and take in the splendor of the gardens too. Once you reach the viewing deck you will realise that the walk is well worth it and you’re sure to leave with some great memories and a few amazing photos of Hong Kong too.
