Peak Garden Looking Towards Mount Austin Playground
This photo was taken at the base of Mount Austin Road as you exit the Tram Terminus on the way to the Victoria Peak. Victoria Peak is Hong Kong’s highest viewpoint at 552m (1811 feet) and offers fantastic, scenic views over Victoria Harbour. Known locally simply as ‘the peak’ or Mount Austin you can get to the peak by heading up Mount Austin Road which is also how you get to Mount Austin Playground and Victoria Garden.
If you are going to walk to the peak from the Tram Terminus then you would walk up this road, but as you can see from the photo, Mount Austin Road in the center of the photo gets quite steep and so being able-bodied is necessary when hiking to the peak.
The pathway to the right of the photo is know as circular walk which is made up of Harlech Road and Lugard Road. These two roads form a popular hiking trail around Victoria Peak.
Mount Austin is a very sought-after and affluent residential area in Hong Kong, which means that there is some through traffic on Mount Austin Road. This route to Victoria Peak has quite a few blind bends so caution is advised when hiking to the peak via Mount Austin Road.
