Victoria Peak Gardens: Views Over Hong Kong‘s West Coast
This is the panoramic view from the viewing area near Victoria Peak Gardens. From here you can see Lantau and Lamma Islands as well as parts of Kowloon and other islands off the western coastline of Hong Kong Island. This used to be the site of Mountain Lodge, the former summer residence of the Governor of Hong Kong.
There are a number of viewing platforms situated on this site that are interconnected with paved pathways and offer some truly beautiful views of the Hong Kong coastline. Access is free to the public.
To get to Victoria Peak Gardens and the old Mountain Lodge site you have a few options. You could head for the Peak which has the highest viewing terrace in Hong Kong at 552m (1811 feet) and then walk down from there in about 10 minutes or you could walk or hike up Mount Austin Road. The Mount Austin Road hike is very steep though so if you’re not fit and healthy it may not be for you.
This part of Hong Kong is popular with nature lovers and hikers because there are many wonderful pathways and trails to explore in addition to enjoying the peak gardens, one of Hong Kong’s most beautiful green public parks.
