Mount Austin Road is popular hiking route to Victoria Peak Gardens

This is Mount Austin Road, Hong Kong, which is an increasingly popular route when hiking up to Victoria Peak, or ‘the peak’ as Hong Kong residents call it. Hiking to the peak is only an option though if you are able bodied and the weather is good on the day you decide to visit this popular tourist attraction because the roads are very steep in places.

If you do decide to walk up to the peak then there are a few places that are nice to stop and enjoy on the way like Mount Austin Playground, for example, which is a public park and one of the better green open spaces in Hong Kong that is accessible to the public.

Mount Austin Playground is great as a stop off point on the way to Victoria Peak or to have a picnic and take the kids to so they can play in the fully equipped play area which has a safety mat, swings, climbing bars and tunnels. The kids are sure to love it!

You could also stop off in Victoria Peak Gardens during your hike or walk to the peak. Peak gardens are the beautiful Victorian style park that are a great place to have a picnic when the weather is good.
